Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Act as the designated officer-in-charge of the Security Cell.
- Oversee port security compliance, coordination with regulatory bodies and all law enforcement and security agencies.
- Act as the nodal officer of all statutorily mandated Port Facility Security Advisory Committee meetings.
- Liaise with relevant law enforcement and security agencies to ensure correct threat perception picture is available to GMB Head Office.
- Conduct surprise inspections and present any observations to GMB Head Office.
Required Skills/Experience:
Trained security professional who is qualified for appointment as a Port Facility Security Officer for non-major ports with quay length of three hundred meters and above, under R. 20(4)(b) of the Merchant Shipping (Ships and Port Facility Security) Rules, 2024, and has minimum 12 years of experience in industrial/corporate security, or within organisations with similar mandate on the date of application.
Minimum Education Qualifications Required:
Graduate in any discipline.
Minimum Years of Work Experience Required:
12 years of service in industrial/corporate security, or in organisations with similar mandate, including at least three years in a supervisory role.
Expected Start Date:
1 November 2025
Additional Preferences, if any:
Ex-Serviceman with the last held rank of Commander in the Indian Navy or its equivalent in the other services, or discharged from the rank of Commandant (Junior Grade) in the Indian Coast Guard or its equivalent in the Central Armed Police Forces/ State Police, with provost experience. Possess industry-specific qualifications or certifications like Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Industrial Security Professional (ISP) and equivalents. Possess postgraduate education in relevant disciplines.

As per the board's approval vide Resolution No. 3872, the constitution of a new Security Cell is proposed. The recruited person would be placed as the designated officer-in-charge of the Security Cell under the Marine Department and located within the Head Office to oversee all security related aspects. As such, there is limited expertise in these areas among the existing departmental staff, thus, the appointment of new staff as described above may please be considered.
